Possible to make a Github release for MaAsLin3

Hello,

I wanted to ask if it is possible to provide a GitHub release of the tool ‘MaAsLin3’ for creating a Bioconda package for faster and better usage than Bioconductor. With a bioconda package, it is also possible to integrate this tool into Galaxy (a web server tool collection for bioinformatics) and make it usable for the user there.

If there is no plan to release it, can there be a way found to somehow still get a release on GitHub from it?

Santino

Hi Santino,

What exactly do you need in the release? We don’t plan to host our own binaries soon, so I think the release would just be the source code, but that should already be accessible from the GitHub. Was there something you wanted the release for that you couldn’t already get?

Will

Hi Will,

the release should contain the source code which should be functional this would be the best. The point is why there is a need for a release is that the code from Github can be dowloaded and doesnt need to be cloned which open the option to create a bioconda package. So if you would create a release only with the current version this would be very helpful!

Is there a decision about the topic now or not?

Hi Santino,

Sorry - I’ve been really busy with my new job, but does this do what you need: Releases · biobakery/maaslin3 · GitHub
