A BioCyc subscription will be required to access MetaCyc starting on January 1, 2024.
How will this effect the usage of the MetaCyc database in the HUMAnN pipeline?
Do we need a subscription if we want to use the pipeline?

My current understanding is that this will not prevent users from using versions of HUMAnN that bundle older versions of our derived MetaCyc pathway definitions. It will mean however that researching the pathways from your outputs online will be harder (since the MetaCyc pages for those pathways will be behind a subscription). We are looking into alternative options for future releases.
