Diet-microbiome correlations

Hi,

I am trying to identify food-microbiome correlations but I cannot figure it out how should I format the input files. I know that MaAsLin2 needs two input files: features file and metadata file. I already have the features file with microbes as columns and samples as rows and the metadata but where I should include the food data (abundance)?

Hi @Jelissa ,

In most cases when we consider microbiome vs. diet the diet would be considered to be part of the metadata. If you combine your current metadata table with the diet table that is what we would normally run. However, as this can end up being high dimension vs. high dimension in the literature you regularly see the diet reduced to some sort of summary score - like the Mediterranean or Western diet scores.
