Query on Statistical Analysis Methods in HUMAnN3 Papers [DOI: 10.1038/s41564-018-0306-4]

Hello HUMAnN3 and the biobakery community,

I hope this message finds you well. I have been reviewing the paper with the DOI Gut microbiome structure and metabolic activity in inflammatory bowel disease | Nature Microbiology, where the Wilcoxon signed-rank test is mentioned.

I have a question regarding the comparison of t-values within the class and t-values outside the class. Since the number of groups is different, isn’t it impossible to perform the signed-rank test? Could you please clarify whether you conducted a one-sample Wilcoxon signed-rank test or a Wilcoxon rank sum test for this comparison?

Your response would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

If I wrote “Wilcoxon signed-rank test” it was a typo - the test used was the “Wilcoxon rank-sum test.” Good catch!
