Could one use **sgb\_to\_gtdb\_profile.py** , which “allows to convert a SGB-based MetaPhlAn 4 output into a GTDB-taxonomy-based profile” also for MetaPhlAn 3?

The question was raised in this issue: [Incorporate GTDB Taxonomy v214 into curatedMetagenomicData · Issue #301 · waldronlab/curatedMetagenomicData · GitHub](https://github.com/waldronlab/curatedMetagenomicData/issues/301)

Just following up here - could the MetaPhlAn3 profiles e.g. in curatedMetagenomicData be converted to GTDB taxonomy, or does this need to happen upstream e.g. with the --gtdb\_profiles argument to the MetaPhlan call?
